Retreats Available for Groups of Artists, Activists and Allies
Many weekdays and some weekends still available between April 13 and August 26, 2012
Please note that retreats are not available between June 4 - July 6
Groups of artists, activists and allies may request retreats at Hopscotch House during available weekdays and weekends from April 13 through August 26, with the exception of June 4 through July 6, the time period dedicated to the Summer Residency Program. Interested groups are encouraged to review the Criteria for groups of artists, activists and allies and information about the Hopscotch House Retreat Program prior to considering a request.
If your group is interested in submitting a request, please contact the Hopscotch House Interim Coordinator, Erin Fletcher at the KFW offices by calling (502) 562-0045 or Toll Free: (866) 654-7564 to discuss available times.
Groups submitting requests will be asked if they are willing to share Hopscotch House with individuals and/or groups who may request space at the same time, so that as many participants as possible can be accommodated. Groups focusing on topics of a sensitive nature may request exclusive use of the House by explaining the need for privacy on their request form.
Stipend funds are not available for group requests.
If the time period you wish to request is still available at the time of your call, the Interim Coordinator will send you the form you need by email or in print to complete the request process.

Advance Scheduling of Retreats from September through December 2012
Advance Scheduling for Retreats to take place between September and December will be announced in July. Advance Scheduling works well for groups of artists, activists and allies who wish to plan ahead for several weeks or months. All Advance Scheduling requests are considered simultaneously, so these requests have the best chance of receiving their top choices for available times. Those interested in weekend dates are especially encouraged to request through the advance scheduling process, as Hopscotch House is most requested on Fridays through Sundays.

Criteria for groups of artists, activists and allies requesting retreats
The primary criterion for all groups requesting a retreat is that the members of the group be composed primarily of women and girls living and working in Kentucky and committed to KFW’s mission of supporting feminist art for positive social change.
In addition, the group must meet at least one of the following criteria:
- The group is composed primarily of feminist social change artists;
- The group is composed primarily of feminist social change activists,
- The group is composed primarily of KFW allies, based on a shared commitment to feminism, art and/or positive social change focusing on women and girls in Kentucky.
In scheduling more than one retreat request for the same time period, Hopscotch House staff will strive for compatibility among the participants by taking into consideration the numbers of those requesting retreats and the purpose of the retreat.

About the Retreat Program for Groups
Groups of artists, activists and allies living in Kentucky who support KFW’s mission may request Day or Overnight retreats at Hopscotch House
Day Retreats – are for groups who wish to use rooms and/or studio spaces, but do not require overnight accommodations. Mixed gender groups may use the house for Day Retreats. Groups may request up to ten consecutive day retreats. Groups of up to 15 can comfortably hold extended daytime meetings. Larger groups interested in a Group Retreat should contact Hopscotch House staff to discuss the possibility of their request.
Overnight Retreats – are for groups who wish to use Hopscotch House’s sleeping accommodations as well as its work and meeting spaces for up to ten days. Up to five individual artists, activists or allies may participate in overnight retreats at a time.
Group retreats at Hopscotch House are open to a wide range of participants, including but not limited to, groups of artists, activists, scholars, educators, organizers, social workers, community advocates, and social service providers who support KFW's mission. Creative people who work in a variety of art forms and expressions, including literary, performing, media and visual arts, are always welcome. Since the program does not require work samples, artist groups have the freedom to conceptualize future work, experiment with new forms or create new work.
The Hopscotch House Retreat Program, like the Kentucky Foundation for Women as a whole, recognizes and honors the diversity of voices, perspectives and experiences of feminists, artists and activists from all backgrounds across Kentucky. Space and time at Hopscotch House can provide groups with opportunities for collaboration, creativity and consideration of the vital links between individual transformation and positive social change in Kentucky.
