KFW ANNOUNCES 2006 ARTIST ENRICHMENT GRANTEES
The Kentucky Foundation for Women has awarded 46 Artist Enrichment Grants totaling $100,000 to Kentucky women artists and arts organizations.
The Artist Enrichment Grants encourage artistic development of individual feminist artists and arts groups to allow them to explore new areas and deepen their skills.
Artists at all of stages of their careers, who demonstrate creative potential and an understanding of the power of art to enact social change, were welcome to apply, as well as artist-centered organizations.
The grant program drew a total of 135 applications. The Artist Enrichment grants ranged from $1,000 to $7,140.
“These artists reflect the wealth of talent found in Kentucky and the desire to apply creative energy to make Kentucky a great place for women and girls. Their work connects neighbors, begins discussions, and changes perceptions bettering the lives of women and girls across state, which, in turn, strengthens Kentucky,” said Dr. Judi Jennings , director of the Kentucky Foundation for Women.
KFW is currently accepting applications through March 2 for the Art Meets Activism Program. This program supports feminist artists and organizations whose work is created with the intention of enacting social change (i.e. altering perceptions, creating social dialogue, opening up opportunities for the disenfranchised). The grants are for specific projects and activities that are artist driven and involve the broader community. Individuals and organizations based in Kentucky may apply.
The mission of the Kentucky Foundation for Women is to promote positive social change by supporting varied feminist expression in the arts.
