I started working for KFW in 2003, straight from a year in New York City, where I moved after growing up in Louisville and going to school in Indiana. I was acting a lot, auditioning a lot, and spending a lot of time figuring out how to pay my rent. When I came back, I meant to stay only for a few months, but I found KFW’s mission, as well as the wonderful women I have met here, completely fascinating and inspirational, and I stopped wanting to leave. During the past three years I have remained an artist, and I have discovered myself as a feminist. And so, equipped with new confidence and a new mission, I’ve decided to move forward from KFW and return to theatre full time as a resident of Kentucky.
I would like to thank the grant recipients, grant applicants, grant reviewers, and everyone who has called or emailed to tell me about their artwork, for your support and trust in the last three years. My life is truly heightened from learning about you and your art.
I am going to miss you all! Please know that I’ll still be out there in the arts community, and I’ll still support your work and admire your vision. I am so proud today to be able to call myself a part of Kentucky’s feminist arts community.
My last day as Grants Manager will be January 26, 2007. The entire KFW staff is committed to making this a seamless transition for all grantees and grant applicants. Until the end of January, please continue to contact me with your grant program concerns at amy@kfw.org.
