2022 Artist Enrichment Grant | (Richmond) $7,430 to complete research and development for The School of Needlework for Disobedient Women curriculum by hosting a weekly after school art program for teen girls. This program will help them grow as teaching artists/workshop facilitators by creating meaningful opportunities to build, practice, and refine their subversive, socially conscious art curriculum while providing space for like-minded teen girls to make connections and express themselves.

Previous Grants

2021 Art Meets Activism Grant | (Richmond): $9,810 to lead The School of Needlework for Disobedient Women’s two-week workshop for teen girls to learn to express themselves through a craft with a rich feminist history. TSNDW is designed to plant seeds of disruption and examine participants’ place in the fabric of their community by connecting the past and the present, the radical and the beautiful.

2020 Art Meets Activism Grant | (Berea): $3,678 to provide women a 4-day, beginner-level workshop that will produce completed decorative embroidered pieces that empower their creator. To speak their minds through embroidery is a proclamation that they care not if they are judged or challenged, a stride in confidence and empowerment many women don’t see until later in life.
