Clarity Hagan & Three Witches Shakespeare
Performing Artist
2024 Art Meets Activism Grant | (Louisville) $2,893 to start the process of becoming a nonprofit. After producing 5 full-length plays, Three Witches Shakespeare, a queer, feminist Shakespeare company, will develop a more sustainable and collaborative administrative structure to ensure they are able to continue to make powerful queer, feminist art with community and healthy creative practices at its center.
Previous Grants
2024 Art Meets Activism Grant | (Louisville) $8,000 to create a queer, genderbent, site-specific production of Much Ado About Nothing, set just after the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. This will open a discussion of how internalized misogyny and oppressive policies demanding secrecy affect the queer community and provide a supportive, cathartic space for queer artists and youth to heal.
2022 Art Meets Activism Grant | (Louisville) $4,600 to produce The Moth and the Masked Man, an immersive theatrical experience centering queer voices and women’s voices in which the audience is invited in and able to follow the show from station to station as it progresses. This will result in future theatrical productions that interrogate the implicit hierarchy between performers and audiences.
