Daisy Slucher

2026 Firestarter Award | (Louisville) A painter whose work focuses on LGBTQ+ and Queer life in Kentucky, bodily autonomy, individuality, feminism, womanhood, gender and sexuality, and agency. Slucher earned her BFA from Murray State University in 2022 and has had her work featured across the region. Slucher attended the Kentucky Foundation for Women’s Artist Residency in Collaboration with the Loretto Motherhouse in September 2025, ahead of her debut solo show, “If a Tree Falls.” Her work has also been published in Fruitslice, a queer quarterly publication comprised of global contributors.

2023 Art Meets Activism Grant | (Pikeville) $4,000 to pay female artists, musicians and workshop presenters during the Mountain Grrl Experience, a 3-day cultural event featuring musical performances, storytelling, dance, poetry, art and workshops led by women. Our mission is to celebrate and promote the creativity and resilience of Appalachian women in a safe and encouraging environment, with proceeds supporting advocacy, education and action for victims of domestic violence.
2022 Art Meets Activism Grant | (Pikeville) $10,000 to help support the second Mountain Grrl Experience, a 2-day cultural event featuring musical performances, storytelling, dance, poetry reading, art displays, workshops, and educational programs. Our mission is to feature, celebrate, and promote the creativity, artistry, power, and strength of Appalachian women with proceeds benefiting two local emergency homeless and domestic violence shelters.
