2025 Artist Enrichment Grant | (Louisville) $1,500 to travel to Kentucky-born Blanche Taylor Dickinson’s hometown to support an anthology of Dickinson’s work and to correct her biographical record. Lucas will do this by sharing the story of the Harlem Renaissance poet, fiction writer, and journalist who spoke to the complexities of Black womanhood and feminism, and the deep scars of racism. An exploration of Dickinson’s birthplace, her final resting place, and Simpson County’s Black history will allow Christian to unlock the mystery behind Dickson’s life, her work, and her quiet exit from the literary world.
