2024 Art Meets Activism Grant | (Louisville) $9,500 to teach participants various dance styles, sewing, and design skills while exploring feminism, body positivity, self-expression, and Black joy with designer Kara Mason, dancer Rahkyilah Jones, and dance instructors from Crestview Studios. The class will culminate in a youth-organized community showcase to share their performances, costumes, music, and other art.

2023 Art Meets Activism Grant | (Louisville) $4,470 to work with Steam Exchange’s fashion designer Kara Mason and dancer Rahkyilah Jones to choreograph a dance and create custom costumes exploring feminism, body positivity, self-expression and Black joy. They will explore various dance styles, sewing and design skills. The class will culminate in a youth-organized Community Showcase to share their performance, costumes, music and other art they create throughout the year with the community.

2022 Art Meets Activism Grant | (Louisville) $6,425 to work with local DJ organization Rhythm Science Sound and fashion designer Kara Mason to create music and custom outfits exploring feminism, presentation, and representation culminating in a youth-organized feminist fashion show. Participants will develop critical thinking skills, feminist awareness, and leadership abilities and see how collaboration amplifies impact. 

2021 Art Meets Activism Grant | (Louisville): $5,110 for students to work with visiting artist Kara Mason to produce a collection of custom outfits exploring feminism, identity, and intersectionality as part of a program to sell their fashion line and spread feminist messaging to a wider audience. This will culminate in a youth-organized feminist fashion show to showcase their projects for their community.

2020 Art Meets Activism Grant | (Louisville): $4,975 to work with a series of visiting artists to learn various textile processes such as shibori, batik, natural dye, sculptural textiles and quilting. Youth will become agents of social change as they question and redefine power and harness the potential of protest and storytelling to create a collaborative social justice-themed quilt.
