(Olive Hill): $5,000 to write a book of poetry centered on the connections between Appalachian mothers and their children and the land. This book will illustrate the importance of both women and nature in Appalachia and the ecologies cultivated by maternal bloodlines, all of which are often overshadowed, ignored, or even blatantly mocked.
