KFW Visioning Announcement

Warm greetings to all,

KFW has completed our 2023 Visioning Process with feedback gathered from artists and arts organizations through surveys, interviews, and in-person sessions. We offer our sincere appreciation for your help in developing our 3-year plan.

In 2024, we affirm our commitment to art first, and to a feminist ecosystem that is a framework for resourcing action for change. This framework:

  • prioritizes equity and access.
  • supports feminist artists’ growth and capacity building at all stages.
  • strengthens relationships through collaborations and convenings.
  • expands our network for people at the margins.
  • supports a safer artist community, especially in light of recent anti-affirmative action and anti-trans/LGBTQIA+ legislation.
  • funds holistic security and healing justice.
  • funds new artists and fresh solutions generated through exploration and experimentation.
  • improves our ability to provide flexible funding and multi-year support.
  • develops new partnerships and communication tools to maximize the power of artists’ voices.
  • develops regular opportunities for participatory input.

In Spring 2024, KFW will offer two opportunities: the Arts Meets Activism grant and a “Radical, Timely, and Urgent” grant for experienced grantees. Changes have been made to the grants process. Be sure to review the applications online when they open the second week of February. Attend a grant workshop to hear more about grant opportunities.

Artist Residencies at Loretto are continuing in 2024. Retreats at Hopscotch House have been discontinued due to lack of support for our renovation plan that was accessible, sustainable, relevant to young artists, and inclusive of diverse generations to come. In addition, KFW has a responsibility to maintain a fair and equitable distribution of funds across Kentucky.

Stay tuned to the Hot Flash and KFW social media posts for more to come on our 3-year plan later in the year.

In solidarity,

KFW Staff and Board
